Crest Communications forays into film production

Mumbai, Oct 27: Mumbai-based Crest Communications is entering feature film production in a major way. The company, having an integrated, multi-format digital production and post-production studio, is planning to make a full-length commercial film in Hindi, and a 3-D film in English for a reputed Hollywood studio.

Crest is producing the Hindi commercial feature film for a multinational client at a total cost of Rs 16-17 crore. The film has been scheduled for release in 2001 and is expected to feature some of the well known stars in Bollywood. According to Crest officials, the multinational is planning to use the movie as a medium to access such viewers who are beyond the reach of regular print and the television media. Crest is also responsible for the project management.

On the animation part, Crest is partnering Rich Animation of US to produce an 80-minute three dimensional feature film. The project outlay for Crest has been pegged at $12 million and the profit will also be shared on an equal basis. The project is to start next month and scheduled to complete and ready for release by 2001. Crest is planning to support the project with a team of sixty animators. The company officials claimed that the outside the United States and Canada, Crest is the only studio qualified for such a project.

The company is continuing its services in specialised 3D animation and effects, computer graphics and cel animation and television commercials.
