Oracle in marketing agreement with Godrej Pacific Tech

Neeraj Saxena
New Delhi, Oct 25: In an effort to boost its marketing reach to small and medium enterprises located in non-metropolitan areas, Oracle Software India has tied up with Mumbai-based distributor company Godrej Pacific Technology.

As part of the alliance, GPTL will market and support Oracle workgroup servers, tools and the entire range of its internet software products. The company has a network of offices in more than 20 cities and a reseller base comprising over 3,000 resellers. It has over 100 medium system integrators.

"We will also be able to tap the up-country markets through multiple outlets like hardware vendors and networking companies, most of whom already have excellent business relationship with GPTL," said Oracle India country manager Shekhar Dasgupta at a press conference here on Monday.

"The demand for Oracle technologies is not restricted to metros. Our association with GPTL will help clients across the country to access our technology and services," he added.

"We plan to give value-added service to end customers. Our strong relation with system integrators and 20 IT vendors will help us effectively take Oracle products to the SMEs,'' said GTPL managing director Shailendra Gupta.

The company, a joint venture between Godrej group and Tech Pacific, will soon be renamed Tech Pacific. Godrej's 50 per cent stake was bought back by Tech Pacific last month for about Rs 120 crore. It also plans to open more offices in the country this year.

GPTL registered a turnover of Rs 728 crore last year. Of this, software products comprised Rs 100 crore. The turnover is slated to grow by 60 per cent to touch Rs 1,100 crore this year, claimed Gupta.
