Hoechst Marion Q2 net soars 62% to Rs 4.7 cr

Mumbai, Oct 21: Hoechst Marion Roussel (HMR) has registered a 62 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 4.7 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 1999 as against Rs 2.9 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. Net sales increased by 12.07 per cent to Rs 153.2 crore as against Rs 136.7 crore in the previous year.Other income at Rs 6.1 crore includes an exceptional income of Rs 4.3 crore during the second quarter (Rs 3.7 crore in the quarter ended September 30,1998). Total expenditure stood at Rs 142.3 crore and includes items of exceptional expenditure amounting to Rs 11.3 crore (including impairment of fixed assets not in use in the Mulund factory of Rs 7.6 crore). On a comparable basis, after making adjustment of the exceptional items, the profit before tax and exceptional items for the quarter ended September 30, 1999 is Rs 18.7 crore as compared with Rs 3.9 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 1998.
