New Delhi, Oct 21: Union minister for consumer affairs and public distribution, Shanta Kumar on Thursday reviewed the situation of availability of foodgrains in various states and Union territories in wake of the strike launched by truck operators all over the country. The minister wanted effective steps to be taken to see that PDS is not affected in any part of the country on account of the strike. The review meeting was attended by food secretary, MD Asthana and FCI chairman, PR Dasgupta.
The minister was informed that the stocking position of foodgrains is sufficient to meet three to six months' requirements in every state.
