Eicher MD named group vice-chairmanEicher Motors managing director S Sandilya has been appointed group vice-chairman and will succeed Subodh K Bhargava as group chief executive from April 1, 2000. In addition to being Eicher Motors MD, Sandilya was also in charge of group finance, strategic planning, audit and information technology. He has been a member of the group's management board for the last ten years. According to a company statement, "Sandilya has guided fortunes of Eicher's truck business for 11 years and steered it into its current position of stability and strength."
Vashisti Detergents net up 9%
Vashisti Detergents Ltd (VDL), a subsidiary of Hindustan Lever, has posted a nine per cent increase in net profit to Rs 1.35 crore for the quarter ended September 1999, as against Rs 1.24 crore in the corresponding period last year. Gross turnover during the period, however, dropped to Rs 57 crore compared to Rs 58.43 crore in the same period last year. According to a press release, this is on account of changes in product mix and selling prices. The company said that other income of Rs 25 lakh from investments of higher surplus funds contributed to the increase in net profit.
Hotline rules out CTV revival
Retracting from its earlier statement, Hotline managing director VN Masaldan has ruled out any plans to revive the group's colour television brand. "In CTV sector, customers do not show much interest in old brands and as such reviving Hotline brand would not be feasible in that scenario," Masaldan said.
Winding up of Woolcombers
Appellate Authority for Industrial Financial Reconstruction has stayed a decision by the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction to wind up sick industrial company Woolcombers of India Ltd.
