VeriFone's e-payment strategy launched

VeriFone, a part of Hewlett-Packard, has launched `Electronic Payment 2000' strategy that can handle all current and future forms of electronic transactions including those in internet commerce. The new initiative is likely to play a key role in HP's drive to expand its e-service business. Among the first products to be unveiled under the new strategy is new Omni 3200 payment terminal, an easy-to-use payment terminal capable of supporting all commonly used credit, debit and smart cards.

Millennium Dome project

Delhi-based software development and systems integration company Mandyal Computing has developed a ticketing and admissions control software for the Millennium Dome project in Greenwich, UK. The software, being developed on behalf of Compaq, will determine the identification, category and validity of the ticket of visitors to the Dome. It will also flash the number of visitors inside the Dome for security purposes.

NIIT implements eXPRess

NIIT has implemented a mega internal systems software which is designed to carry out enterprise-wide transformation through world-class practices. The project, codenamed `eXPRess', went live on October 1. The NIIT internal systems are designed to provide global support for all its operations through uniform processes and systems across all 10 geographies and 18 subsidiaries. Phase I of this software project implementation covers all processes in core functions like finance, materials and sales at all its Indian geographies. Phase II, now underway, will expand the scope to cover NIIT's global geographies and introduce new modules like human resources, projects and sales management.

New Compaq products at Defexpo

Compaq has entered development of industry-leading rugged project capabilities to deliver modern military and government systems. These products, to be on display at the Compaq India stand at Defexpo '99 to be held in Delhi between October 12-16, can be used effectively in the most demanding environments such as oil and chemicals industry, cement factories, underground mines, moving tanks, fighter planes, submarines and in extreme temperatures.

Multimedia awards on Oct 15

Arena Multimedia and Chip magazine, will organise the first-ever multimedia awards in India. The event is scheduled to be held in Mumbai on October 15. The awards are aimed at individuals and products and have been instituted to appreciate the talent, effort and initiative of multimedia developers in India.
