Mumbai, October 12: A 10-member delegation from the country, under the banner of the Pesticides Manufacturers and Formulators' Association of India (PMFAI) would be taking part in the China Pesticides Market' 99 show.The show hosted once in every three years by the Chinese government, is hailed as one of the prestigious exhibitions in the world for pesticides and allied sectors. It would commence on October 27, 1999, in Beijing.
Speaking to The Financial Express, president of PMFAI, Pradeep P Dave said that ``the delegation would study the Chinese pesticides market, scope for exports from India, apart from accessing the possibilities for joint ventures.'' The team would probe the chances of joint ventures in marketing, sales and transfer of technology, he added.
The delegation would visit the factories of the leading pesticides manufacturers in China viz Borregaard Taichan Chemicals, Changzhous Pesticide Factory and Wuxian Agricultural Chemical Group Corporation among others. ``These plant visits would enable us to do a comparative study of the Chinese pesticides and formulation sector vis-a-vis that of the Indian sector,'' said Dave.
On behalf of PMFAI, Pradeep Dave, would make a presentation on the ``Future of the pesticide industry in India in the patent era and the world scenario'' at the summit. Deliberations on other topics like ``Patent protection of agriculture invention in China,'' ``Prospects of development of pesticides industry in China'' and ``Prospective of global registration of pesticides,'' and other topics like global registration process also would be discussed.
About 400 delegations from almost all the European countries and South East Asian countries would attend China Pesticides Market'99 summit, said Dave.
PMFAI is a non-profit trade organisation which was registered under Charitable Trust and Societies Act, in 1967, with the sole objective to promote the pesticides industry both within the country and without. PMFAI also provides free consultancy services on legal policy, trade and product registrations among others to achieve this end.
The PMFAI in its recently concluded AGM had elected Pradeep P Dave, who is the chairman and managing director of Aimco Pesticides, as the associations' president for the 14th time in succession, chairman and managing director of Sulphur Mills Ltd Deepak C Shah, and, general manager of Gayatri Pesticides Vinod C Shah were elected as the vice-president and secretary respectively.
