Mumbai, Oct 12: Divergent trends marked the week-ended October 9. Turmeric lost Rs 50 per quintal. Cummin, fenugreek, sesameseeds too eased further on fresh selling pressure. Market heaved sigh of relief as Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutchh received rains says Rasik Mehta, a leading exporter traders.Turmeric: Prices slipped down further by Rs 50 per quintal on fresh selling. Erode had maximum arrivals during the week. In Sangli, spot ruled at Rs 3,100 aand pits changed hands between Rs 2,900 and Rs 3,000. In Mumbai, FOL prices per quintal quoted at Rs 3,125/3,150 for Nizamabad, Rs 2,900-3,000 for Duggirala, Rs 3,025-3,050 for Cuddapah and Rs 3,300-3,350 for Sangli Polished turmeric finger. Stray export deals were booked.
Coriander: Prices steadied up at reduced levels. Kanpur Avg machine cleaned ruled at Rs 1,550-1,750 Indore Avg machine cleaned ruled at Rs 1,400-1,425 and 5 per cent bold machine cleaned ruled at Rs 1,700/1,725. While 100 per cent Splits machine cleaned ruled at Rs 1,075/1,100 per quintal FOL Mumbai.
Cummin: Prices took a further knock by Rs 25 per 20 kilograms on roumers that Iranian cummin is imported via Dubai at cheaper rates, hence the downtrend. One per cent machine cleaned for Singapore ruled at Rs 1,575-1,600 and Europe quality at Rs 1,650-1,675. Four per cent machine cleaned at Rs 1,525-1,550 per 20 kg FOL Mumbai.
Fennel: Prices were steady at reduced levels. Dubai-Singapore quality were quoted at Rs 850-875 while London-Europe quality at Rs 950-1,000 per 20 kg FOL Mumbai.
Fenugreek: Prices dipped further by Rs 25 per quintal on fresh selling pressure. One per cent best bold machine cleaned ruled at Rs 2,200-2,225, medium best machine cleaned at Rs 2,000-2,025 and average machine cleaned at Rs 1,930-1,950 per quintal FOL Mumbai.
Dill: Prices flared up on further tightening of supplies on small crop. One per cent machine cleaned ruled at Rs 4,500-4,600 & 11 per cent FAQ at Rs 4,050-4,100.
Ajwan: Steady and firm conditions continued to prevail. Jamnagar ruled between Rs 7,000 and Rs 7,500. MP Superior at Rs 6,500-7,000 and medium at Rs 6,000-6,200 per quintal FOL Mumbai.
Chillies: Prices ruled steady. Chilly with CStem ruled at Rs 3,800-4,000 and chilly without stem at Rs 4,800- 5,000 per quintal FOL Mumbai.
Tamarind: Stagnant and listless conditions prevailed. Prices remained steady at reduced levels. Basket ruled at Rs 2,900/3,000, Slab at Rs 3,100/3,150, Consumer packs at Rs 3,300-3,400 per quintal FOL Mumbai.
Black pepper: Markets improved on fresh demand. Farmers are holding the stocks tightly. In Cochin, ready delivery ungarbled loose ruled at Rs 220 per kg. In futures section October contract ruled at Rs 233.10 per kilogram. MG1 FOB Cochin ruled at Rs 234 and FOL Mumbai at Rs 233 per kilogram.
Ginger: Prices are steady. NUGC good FOB Cochin ruled at Rs 82,000 and FOL Mumbai at Rs 82,000 per metric tonne.
Sesameseeds: Prices eased as arrivals gained momentum. 98x2 cost Rs 2,750/2,800, 95x5 costs at Rs 2,700/2,750 & Hulled washed at Rs 3,725-3,750. Uttar Pradesh is expecting good crop.
Peanuts: Prices remained steady. 45-55 counts at Rs 2,600-2,650, 50-60 counts at Rs 2,500-2,550, 60-70 counts at Rs 2,400-2,450, 70-80 counts at Rs 2,350-2,400 and 80/90 counts at Rs 2,300/2,350.
Cardamom: Prices were easy. AGEB ruled at Rs 550-560. AGB at Rs 490/500, AGS at Rs 450/460 and AGS 1 at Rs 430/440 per kilogram.
