New Delhi, Oct 7: Hewlett-Packard India (HPI) unveiled the next generationprinter based on the platform of PhotoREt III colour layering technologyhere on Thursday. The new technology boasts of smaller drop size and vibrantinks with improved fade resistance to offer realistic photo images.Moreover, in a bid to enhance the usage of printing capabilities, HPI isalso launching a new photo website www.cartogra.com in a month's time. "Weare trying to promote the concept of photo community as distinct from photolibrary through this site. It will cater to local tastes and different typesof usage," said Ahwini K Aggarwal, marketing manager, consumer hardcopy,HPI. "It will be a complete image collection portal which will be operatingwith various sophisticated search engines where one can just enter a keywordand get images corresponding to that or search for specific types of imagesseamlesly."
The site allows the user to put his community's album on the Web.
Offered at a street price of Rs 24,900, the third generation HP technologyenables the printer -- DeskJet 970Cxi Professional Series -- to handlevaried media and projects like posters, banner, T-shirts, photoprinting(directly from digital camera), and special cards. Targeted at personal aswell as high-end group usage, the printer also includes an auto duplexeswhich enables automatic two-sided printing and a manual print cancel buttonto stop print jobs.
Printers, driven by preceding PhotoREt II technology, account for around 35per cent of HPI's deskjet volume sales and over 50 per cent of revenuesales. "As the market matures and new segment emerge we can possiblyintroduce new versions, using the same PhotoREt III platform, at differentprice points," said Aggarwal. HPI is launching a six-month long, major printcampaign shortly to promote the new technology.
