Mumbai, Sept 29: Unichem Laboratories has registered a 16 per cent growth in sales as compared to the pharma industry growth of 11 per cent in the first five months (April to August) of the current financial year.The company registered sales of Rs 87 crore compared to Rs 74 crore in the corresponding period last year, according to chairman and managing director Dr PA mody, .
Addressing shareholders at the annual general meeting here on wednesday, Mody said the Himachal Pradesh-based Baddi plant, which manufactures the `Betalactum' range of formulations, was now fully operational and accounted for nearly 30 per cent of the company's turnover.
He said the certification process by the international health authorities for their Goa plant was expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year, the company said in a statement.
A Rs 10 crore ultra-modern R&D centre would also be functional by the year end and the Meloxicam (brand name M-Cam), recently launched by the company after extensiveclinical trials, was at the numero uno position in its therapeutic category, it said.
The recently completed Rs 8 crore multi-purpose drug plant at Roha (Maharashtra) was now operational and expected to get international approval soon, Mody said.
