So near, and yet so far

Transactions on the Net will never be the same again. With the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) relaxing the rules for selling and buying via the Internet, Indians can now get the best of Singapore, New York, London or anywhere else in the world, sitting at home. Well, almost, because there are conditions attached.

First, you must have an international credit card, which is issued by three banks right now: Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank and American Express Bank. Second, you can't spend more than $3,000 (which is the basic travel quota) in a year. And finally, among the things that you can order on the Net are books, cards, small gifts, flowers and music. Not bigger stuff like cars and houses. You can, however, book your international flight tickets and also your hotel rooms on the Net.

Once the process has begun, hopefully things will only look up from now on. Here's a glimpse of opportunities that exist in the cyber world, but cannot be so easily ours yet. For instance, if you're a regular surfer or areactive on the e-mail network, you might have already heard of this. The message says: Make thousands of dollars by just sending out e-mails. This programme has validity in the US, but not in India so far. But that hasn't stopped people from sending across the big-opportunity mail to Indian residents.

In this programme, the more people you mail the message to, the greater your chances of profit. You have to make an initial investment of $20 only and spend lots and lots of time and energy sending thousands of e-mails to people. If you don't mind doing that, try it. You may end up a millionaire.

According to the founder of the programme, it is a perfectly legal money making opportunity. It's like any multi-level business--build the business by recruiting new partners and selling the products. The only thing is that you are not involved in direct selling. Rather, your orders come by mail and are filled by e-mail, making it the greatest multi-level mail order marketing anywhere.

You must begin with orderingall four reports ($5 each) because you can't sell them if you don't order them. Report one is `How to make $250,000 through multi-level sales'. The second report is on `Major corporations and multi-level sales'. The third report is on `Sources for the best mailing lists'. And the fourth one, `Evaluating multi-level sales plans'.

Assuming that your goal is to get 10 people to participate at the first level, and that everyone on your list gets only 10 members each, the result will be something like this:

First level: Your 10 members with $5 will add up to $50. Second level: 10 members from those 10 ($5x100) will make $500. Third level: 10 members from those 100 ($5x1,000) will add up to $5,000. Fourth level: 10 members from those 1,000 ($5x10,000) is $50,000. That makes a total of $55,550. But of course, it's a long grind and you should be ready to play on.

There are other roads to financial freedom as well on the Net. If you're in business and you're looking for more customers, get listed on GoTo.com.This search engine acts like an online marketplace, which means that it will introduce your Website to your best potential customers.

Initially, you can advertise on GoTo.com for just $25. As an incentive, the site will offer an extra $5 in free advertising credit. For more information, check out http://destinationsite.com.

Then there are `no application fee' residential and commercial mortgages that you can make yours. You can apply online at www5.net/guarantyloans and within an hour, the loan will be approved.

Plus, there are other things like trading on the Hollywood Stock Exchange at www.hsx.com. Right now, you can win up to $50,000 every time you make a trade at this site. So, the spokesperson for the site says that the more you trade on this site, the more chances you have of winning.

For the time being, most of all this is to be seen and not experienced in India. But considering the way the RBI has begun to relax its norms, soon we'll be on our way to riches through the Net.
