MUMBAI, SEPT 26: Freight rates for the nine-tonne load vehicles from Mumbai to most of the states are likely to firm up in the coming week, transporters say. Truck rates from the metropolis to most of the northern states went up due to the severe shortage of vehicles in the city. "For the last 2 days vehicles coming to the city have to travel nearly 250 kilometres more as traffic in some highways bordering Rajasthan and Gujarat have been affected by heavy rains," said a transporter."This extra de-tour delayed the arrival of the vehicles into the city," he added. Truck rates to Jammu were steady at Rs 21,000 while rates to Srinagar were at Rs 25,800. Mumbai to Shimla truck rates also continued to remain at Rs 17,500.
The rates to Delhi zoomed to Rs 14,500 from Rs 13,300, while rates to neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab also witnessed a rise of Rs 500 to Rs 1,200 in the last week. While rates to Bihar remained stable, the rates to Uttar Pradesh shot up due to elections in the state.
The freightrates from Mumbai to Patna remained steady at Rs 19,500 and that to Lucknow and Kanpur increased by Rs 2,000 each to Rs 17,800 and Rs 16,500 respectively.
Rates to Meerut also rose by Rs 2,000 to 16,200, while those to Agra were up by Rs 400 to Rs 14,000. In the western region, the rates to Madhya Pradesh were again up due to incessant rains which blocked the entry of vehicles. The check on overloading in Rajasthan also kept the rates firm in the state. Freight rates to Satna increased by Rs 1,800 to Rs 13,500, while rates to Jabalpur were up by Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,300.
Rates to Jaipur were up by Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,500, while those to Ajmer increased by Rs 800 to Rs 10,000. Truck rates to Maharashtra remained stable.Rates to the entire eastern region were steady. Truck rates to Guwahati were at Rs 36,000, while rates to Calcutta were at Rs 20,300. The freight rates to southern states were also firm last week. Truck rates to Bangalore were at Rs 9,000, while rates to Chennai were at Rs 13,000. Freight rates toCochin were at Rs 14,000.
