Shonkh, LaserCard in strategic tie-up

Shonkh Technologies Ltd, a Bangalore-based IT company, has announced the finalisation of a strategic partnership with LaserCard Systems Corporation of the US, a key player in optical memory card technology. The set of applications from Shonkh for a variety of vertical segments like vehicle manufacturers, hospitals, insurance, airlines and state and central government departments ensure high security and data capacity in optical memory card solutions, a release said.

Sterling to launch high-speed Net access

Sterling Infotech will launch high-speed internet access across the country on October 1 using state-of-the-art Japanese digital subscriber technology (DSL) through a joint venture with Sumitomo Electric. The high speed Web access made available for the first time in India by any company and offered at a price of Rs 1,995 on a per month basis is expected to revolutionise the internet access business, Vijay Bhatkar, chairman of Sterling's internetcompany Dishnet, told PTI. DSL is a new data communication technology that offers high-speed internet access by offering higher bandwidth on the normal telephone lines. Bhatkar said Sterling had recently tied up with Sumitomo Eletric for providing the technology in India.
