MUMBAI, SEPT 19: Freight rates for the nine-tonne load vehicles from Mumbai to most of the states are likely to remain firm in the coming week, transporters said.Truck rates from Mumbai to some states increased, while to some states, the rates flatened after remaining range-bound. The rates to Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh continued to be stable.
Truck rates to Jammu were at Rs 21,000 while rates to Srinagar were stabilized at Rs 25,800. Mumbai to Shimla truck rates continued to remain at Rs 17,500. The freight rates to Delhi were marginally down by Rs 100 at Rs 13,300 on Friday. During the week, the rates to Delhi fluctuated between Rs 13,000 to Rs 13,500.
The rates to Haryana and Punjab remained range-bound. With Bihar and Uttar Pradesh going to polls in the third stage of 13th general elections, the movement to these states slowed down. The shortage of vehicles helped in keeping the rates firm to these states.
Mumbai to Patna freight rates remained at Rs 19,500 continuously for afortnight. Rates to Lucknow were at Rs 15,800 while rates to Kanpur were at Rs 14,500. Rates to Meerut rose by Rs 200 to 14,200 while those to Agra were up by Rs 100 to Rs 13,500.
In the western region, the rates to Madhya Pradesh were up due to incessant rains which blocked the entry of vehicles. The check on overloading in Madhya Pradesh kept the rates firm in the state.
Freight rates to Surat went up by Rs 200 to Rs 3,200 while rates to Kandla were stable at Rs 5,400. Rates to Jaipur were steady at Rs 9,500 while those to Ajmer were stable were at Rs 9,200.
The truck rates to eastern region were up. The rates to Guwahati continued to increase substantially this week also. Mumbai to Guwahati were up by Rs 2,000 to Rs 36,000. Last week, the rates to this city were up by Rs 3,000. Rates to Tinsukhia were up by Rs 1,000 to Rs 46,000. Rates to Orissa and West Bengal remained steady.
Freight rates to southern states were rangebound. Rates to Chennai were up by Rs 200 to Rs 13,000 while rates to Cochinwere at Rs 14,000.
