Citrix Systems has licensed its server-based independent computing architecture to Endpoints, a `thin chip' manufacturer who will incorporate it into highly-integrated semiconductors targeted at low-cost fixed-function devices. At present, more than 200 different shipping devices incorporate ICA worldwide, ranging from Linux terminals to information appliances such as wireless phones and handheld devices. The company will incorporate ICA technology into single-chip solutions that will enable manufacturers to design information devices that can be used to obtain easy and quick access to e-mail, e-commerce and other Web applications.
