Mumbai, Sept 16: Both the precious metals suffered fresh losses on the bullion market here today.Standard gold slipped by Rs 10 at Rs 4,080 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat eased by same margin at Rs 3,775 per 10 gm. in sympathy. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) declined by Rs 200 at Rs 47,650 per piece.
Seasonal buying for gold was lower than expected while brisk inflow of overseas supplies in the wake of bearish trend prompted offerings by stockists and bankers, according to market sources. In the global market gold moved down from $257.30 to $255.60 per ounce on expected sale of 25 tonnes of gold by Bank of England from its reserve, it was learnt.
Silver .999 softened by Rs 30 at Rs 7,980 per kg. Silver .916 was down by Rs 35 at Rs 7,855 per kg in same fashion. Industrial buyers were stayed away from the falling market while continued supplies of raw silver from local sources coupled with weak Delhi and overseas advices put pressure on the local market, it was stated. In the global market the whitemetal slid by 3/4 cents at $5.10 per ounce.
Castor oil drifts
Groundnut oil maintained at the reduced level on the oil, oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil remained weak following reports of recovery in the production of new crop.
Groundnut oil ruled quiet at Rs 430 per 10 kg on poor buying interest, but tight supplies kept offerings restricted during the day. In Rajkot groundnut oil slipped by Rs 15/20 at Rs 675 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil fell by Rs 6 at Rs 237 per 10 kg on reports of steady arrivals at Mumbai port. In the global market palm oil held at $425 per tonne for nearby delivery and $420 per tonne for forward deliveries, it was gathered.
Castor oil eased by Rs 4 at Rs 444/456 per 10 kg Castorseed ready slumped by Rs 20 at Rs 2,064/2,070 per quintal on unloading by stockists.
In the future section castorseed December delivery closed Rs 35 lower at Rs 2,100 per quintal on weak Gujarat advices. Maturing September delivery remained untraded.
In the internationalcastor oil future market December delivery moved up by Rs 7 at Rs 406 and the newly opened February delivery placed at Rs 408 per 10 kg. October delivery remained untraded today.
Castorseed spot delivery fell to Rs 405/410 per 20 kg and castor oil settled at Rs 440 per 10 kg in Gujarat and arrivals of castorseed were placed around 30000/35000 bags.
Sugar edges upA steady-to-better condition prevailed on the sugar market. Activity was moderate.
The local price held steady while ex-mill indications were better by Rs 5 a quintal. M-30 ruled at Rs 1440-1495 and S-30 at Rs 1415-1440 ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, M-30 were placed at Rs 1415-1435 and S-30 at Rs 1400-1410.
In tenders, M-30 were indicated at Rs 1370-1380 and S-30 at Rs 1350-1360 in Kolhapur line.
Grains unchanged
A steady condition was in evidence on the grains market.
Wheat milling indigenous and imported were transacted at Rs 770-775 and at Rs 650 a quintal respectively. North Gujarat Sonaklyan wheat were quoted at Rs 835-861,Tukadi at Rs 850-875 and 496 at Rs 875-880. MP 147 were placed at Rs 875-950, Lokvan at Rs 870-925 and Sarbati in the range of Rs 950-1400.Rice Gujarat-17 were mentioned at Rs 1800-2200. AP kattar were quoted at Rs 975-1100 and Cultured Kolams at Rs 1200-1400. MP Masoori were placed at Rs 1100-1250.
Among pulses, green peas Rumba/Heart USA ruled at Rs 1300 and Canadian at Rs 850-925. Australian gram were in demand at Rs 1350-1375. Rajma chitra deshi new were placed at Rs 2300-2400 and old at Rs 2200. Chinese goods were on offer at Rs 2250-2300. Red rajma Myanmar unpolished ruled at Rs 1750-1800 and polished at Rs 1825.
Cotton steady
A steady condition prevailed on the cotton market. Activity was modest.V-797 ruled at Rs 14,200-14,400, Wagad at Rs 13,700-13,800 and Kalan-ginned at Rs 13,200 a candy spot. Sanker were quoted in the range of Rs 18,500-21,600.
New crop MP MECH-1 ruled at Rs 20,000-20,500 and LRA at Rs 19,500-20,500.In Punjab zone, Bengal Deshi roller-ginned new ready were placedat Rs 1330-1410 a maund. J-34 saw-ginned good average ready ruled at Rs 1825-1870. October delivery were placed at Rs 1715-1815.
Yarn listless
Activity remained at a low ebb on the yarn market and price quietly steady.Viscose filament yarn bright cones first quality Century Rayon 150dn were mentioned at Rs 196, 120dn at Rs 205, 100dn at Rs 220 and 75dn at Rs 252 a kg. 40dn were placed at Rs 428. 120dn dull cones ruled at Rs 217.
Nylon yarn 15/1/0dn Shreelon were traded at Rs 245. Gujnil 20/1/0dn were on offer at Rs 220 and 30/1/0dn at Rs 310. 111/24/0dn were mentioned at Rs 155.Polyester yarn grey first quality of medium-sized units 80dn, roto were quoted at Rs 88-90 and weft at Rs 84-86.
150dn weft were transacted at Rs 70-71, warp at Rs 77-78, single roto at Rs 71-72 and double roto at Rs 72-73.
