Meerut, Sept 16: Senior BJP leader and UP tourism and public works department minister Kalraj Mishra has criticised the Election Commission for continuing the election process for nearly a month. He said the long-drawn schedule has not only hindered the development work in the country but also led to fatigue symptoms among the electorate.Addressing a rally at Hastinapur near Meerut, Mishra said the protracted election schedule was violation of EC code of conduct as it provided opportunity to those taking undue advantage of the process.
Mishra claimed that BJP would secure at least 60 of the 85 parliamentary seas in Uttar Pradesh in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Assailing the Congress, he said the party president Sonia Gandhi still enjoyed "dual citizenship". "How can a party which has always caused instability and a Rs 71,200-crore burden to the electorate provide a stable government," asked Mishra.
Attacking previous governments for neglecting the development of villages, Mishra said even thebasic facilities were not available in 12,803 villages. Now, the BJP government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee has created facilities like Agriculture Insurnace Scheme, and Kisan Credit Card by which the farmers could avail loan facility of Rs 1 lakh without any guarantee.
