BSE turnover overshoots NSE's
Mumbai, Aug 27: Friday fury continued for the third week in succession on BSE. At Rs 2552.50 crore, on August 27, the total turnover on the BSE was Rs 494.5 crore more than the NSE's Rs 2058 crore. Interestingly, the same phenomenon was observed during the two previous weeks also which began on the last Friday the 13th (of August). However, according to market players, the newly introduced margin system on the NSE could possibily be one of the reasons for the lower turnover on the bourse. On August 27, while the BSE's total turnover of Rs 2552.50 crore came from 10.81 crore shares, for the NSE, the corresponding figures were Rs 2058 crore from 8.80 crore shares. However, at 3,27,249 the total number of trades registered on the NSE was higher than the corresponding BSE figure of 3,19,742 trades. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
