New Delhi, Aug 27: The Rs 400-crore DS Group, manufacturers of chewing tobacco brands such as Baba and branded salt Catch, on Friday announced a foray into food and beverages business with the launch of mineral water. The group has floated a new company, DS Food, for this purpose.

Addressing a press conference here, DS Food director RN Goela stated that the company has set up a water bottling plant at Kulu, Himachal Pradesh with an investment of Rs 11 crore.

Goela added that the new company would, in future, introduce several products such as ice tea, club soda, flavoured water, edible oil and packaged tea. The company's products will be targeted at middle and upper middle income group.

``We are planning to invest over Rs 100 crore in the next three years in the new company and will work towards achieving 5-10 per cent market share in the mineral water,'' he said.

The mineral water to be sold as `Catch natural spring water' has been sourced from springs in the Himalayas. The water goes through atwo-stage purification process before it is bottled.

The Kulu plant has installed capacity to process 2.5 lakh litres of water. ``We expect to achieve turnover of Rs 100 crore in the next three years.''

Goela said the mineral water would be launched initially through select outlets in major metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
