Accel Technology ties up with I2P, US company

K Sreedevi
Chennai, Aug 27: The Chennai-based Accel Technologies Ltd (ATL), a recently-floated subsidiary of Accel Ltd, has tied up with the California-based Integrated Intellecutal Property Inc (I2P) for developing software in intellecutual properties (IPs) in VLSI and embedded systems domain.

The company has also inked an agreement with another US training firm Blue Pacific Computing Inc to become its Asia partner for VLSI and HDL (hardware description Language) training.

ATL, set up as a commercial research and development wing of Accel Ltd, will focus on the development of softcore IPs in PC standards and networking areas. These IPs will be licensed to ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) designers, foundries and systems designers worldwide through I2P. It will also develop embedded systems software, Firmware, which finds application in consumer durables and communication devices.

This apart, the centre will also offer training in VLSI design and embedded systems in association with Blue PacificComputing. However, the training will be restricted to not more than 15 people at a time and will be more for the capital requirement of the company. The company is in talks with a few technology universities in the city, IIT and Anna University, to get the course affiliated to them.

ATL, which will go operational next month, has been set up at a total cost of Rs 3 crore. I2P, its US partner, has picked up about 25 per cent in the company while the rest of it lies with the parent firm, Accel Ltd.
