New Delhi, Aug 27: Swedish swiss multinational Asea Brown Boveri will pump in additional Rs 500 crore in India during the next three years to take its overall investment to Rs 700 crore in the power sector.The company has already invested about Rs 200 crore in the country in various power projects including that of the fast track power project in Tamil Nadu, a top company official said.
ABB, chosen as a 50 per cent joint venture partner by National Thermal Power Corporation for a renovation and modernisation company, is planning to make investments in the transmission and distribution sector apart from pumping in funds for automation and other allied areas of the power industry, he said on conditions of annoymity.
The company also has equity participation in some of the major power projects like that of $1.2 billion Videocon power project in Tamil Nadu and the 500 mw Spci power project, the official said.
The multinational engineering major is basically involved in engineering, procurement andconstruction contracts of various project including that of the 500 mw Daewoo power project in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
ABB is also planning to pick up equity up to the extent of 50 per cent in the Daewoo project and negotiations are on with the Korean major, the official said.
