Dec to see Win 2000 India launch

Microsoft Corporation will launch its Windows 2000 operating system in India by December to spearhead technology revolution in the next millennium, a top company official said. "The next generation operating system, Windows 2000 has successfully completed the beta test stage and is set to hit the market by December," TS krishnan, director, Microsoft India, said, adding that the response for the pre-release version of the software was positive.

Zee blames it on Gulshan episode

Producer-director Suhaib Ilyasi of "India's Most Wanted" fame on Tuesday alleged Zee TV had stopped telecast of new episodes of the serial, including one on the sensational Gulshan Kumar murder case, as the network wanted to safeguard certain names for its own business interest. "The episode on Gulshan Kumar had many exclusive details about the involvement of underworld don Abu Salem, music director Nadeem Saifi and music baron Ramesh Taurani, and as Zee TV's business interests couldhave got hurt if it telecast that episode, they stopped showing all new episodes," he told reporters. Zee stopped the telecast as Taurani's Tips Music Company is a major business provider for the network's Music Asia channel, he claimed.

Two-day seminar on telecom

Philips Tariffica, a London-based consultancy firm, has initiated its India plans by organising a two-day seminar from Wednesday to address various issues like cellular tariffs, privatisation and comparisons with other countries in the sub-continent, wholesale in telecom, rural telephony, online trading in telecom bandwidth and an internet telephony workshop.

"With the ongoing liberalisation of the Indian telecom industry and gradual spawning of private enterprises, the meet will help evaluate the new challenges and opportunities that face the infrastructure sector," said Philip Low, managing director of Phillips Tarifica. The session will be addressed by individuals and corporates in the Indian telecom industry.
