E-commerce, DGFT applications through Capexil.com

Kohinoor Mandal
Calcutta, Aug 24: Capexil.com, the official website of Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council, will offer e-commerce facilities to its member-exporters, who can also make necessary applications to the different offices of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, online.

The website was recently launched here by the additional secretary of the Union ministry of commerce, Nripendra Mishra. According to Capexil executive director SK Ray, the council will provide all these facilities to its members within the next couple of months, apart from regular trade inquiries.

"All our members can interact with the DGFT offices directly from our server. It will include applications for duty entitlement pass book (DEPB) scheme and also advance licenses. And once cyber laws are in place we will introduce e-commerce too," Ray said. The export promotion council is also thinking of providing services for the export and import documentation needed for the customs.

"At present, customs has engaged officialsof CMC Ltd for keying in all the necessary documents for export and import. The CMC officials are working for the customs house agents, popularly knows as the CHAs. Our members need not have to go to the port or the airport. They can file their documents straight from our server," Ray said.

He added that Capexil has initiated a dialogue with the top brass of customs to appoint an officer, who will take care of all the applications from Capexil.
