Sebi panel moots five-year ban on defaulting brokers
All the brokers who are declared defaulters are likely to face a five-year suspension if a Sebi committee's recommendations are accepted by the market regulator.
Rupee bounces back to 43.52 on Jalanspeak
The rupee bounced back to close at 43.51/52 against the dollar yesterday, buoyed by the RBI governor Bimal Jalan's statement that the central bank was prepared to intervene directly or sell dollars through the SBI.
Bank of Maharashtra Rs 100 cr bond issue oversubscribed
The Bank of Maharashtra's subordinated debt issue was oversubscribed within hours of opening yesterday. The public sector bank entered the capital market by way of private placement of bonds worth Rs 100 crore with a greenshoe option of Rs 70 crore to augment its tier-II capital.
