Mumbai, Aug 22: Mumbai-based Sovika Infotek is setting up a subsidiary in the US to undertake marketing and offshore development projects. The project will come up by October this year on the US East Coast after which it will pitch in for gathering few offsite projects.The company is a 100 per cent export-oriented unit specialising in customer relationship management (CRM) and client/server technologies.
According to senior officials, as per the plan, Sovika has outlined an investment of around $500,000 in the ventures. The company is also planning to open branch offices in the West Coast as well as attempt to obtain ISO 9002 certification. "We have built up expertise in Java and Web-based solutions and will go in for similar projects," said company director Sahil Mehta.
Sovika, according to Mehta, has been undertaking projects in internet, intranet, relational database management systems and other technologies.
The company recently launched CRM solutions, marketrievePLUS, developed by MehtaCorporation of the US in India. The company has set up an R&D lab to support Mehta Corp's requirements in the US and other markets. Sovika has also developed a survey automation software, Satisfy, at its labs.
Mehta said that Sovika has expertise in development of CRM solutions. Worldwide, the CRM market is expected to go to $11 billion by 2002.
"The product has been designed rather loosely to add more modules and to suite requirements of a number of industries," Mehta said. At present, the product is running at more than 20 installations. As per the promotion strategy, the company is planning to organise seminars, exhibitions and roadshows to improve the selling.
Mehta said that a 10-user product has been priced at Rs 4 lakh. "We are expecting a turnover of Rs 3-4 crore by 2000 from sales alone," he said. Among other plans, Sovika is making the product a Web-enabled one.
