A fair number of analysts are ready to put their reputation on line, predicting Sensex values which are most often at wide variances with each other.

The Reserve Bank of India has little alternative but to take a view on the level of the rupee. It is absurd to expect the market to take a view on the currency when in fact it is not allowed to do any such thing.
