Chandrababu Naidu: The man in action

Why is Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu regarded as the shrewdest and most successful of politicians today? Ask the Congress or the BJP leaders. They have been literally floored on their own turf.

Naidu today boasts of following the most democratic method of selecting party candidates for the forthcoming polls. He has devised a system under which almost a thousand odd party functionaries at various levels participate in a secret ballot to choose the best possible candidate.

Naturally, there is minimal dissidence in his party unlike in other parties. That is not all. Which chief minister is in direct touch with his DMs on a daily basis as regards the basic necessities like water and power supply, availability of rations etc? None other than Naidu!

He has connected himself with district headquarters through computer terminals. And when that does not work for some reason, he dials the DMs himself. Which DM can afford to misleadhim? DMs are up and awake at six in the morning apprehending a call from the CM. Woe betide the DM, who fails to provide him up to date information on his district.

No wonder, even the most diehard of his detractors in politics literally dreads him. Look how he has been able to keep at bay the BJP over the seat adjustment issue. He knows exactly where he has to stop. There is a general impression in the enemy camps that anti-incumbency factor does not bother Naidu. Have the opponents conceded defeat? So it seems.
