NASA to broadcast eclipse on InternetNext week's solar eclipse will only be visible in parts of the world, but amateur astronomers will be able to follow the event on NASA's website, the space agency has said. The shadow from the August 11 total eclipse - the last this century - will first hit land at the south-western tip of Cornwall in Britain, then race across Europe, Central and South Asia at 2,500 km per hour. The eclipse will only be partial in north-eastern North America. But amateur astronomers can log on to (www.eclipse99.nasa.gov).
"The purpose of this website is to provide live coverage of the actual eclipse of the sun from a ship in the Black Sea," NASA said in a statement. It will also be transmitted live in 10 participating museums around the US, including the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington and the exploratorium in San Francisco. Students at the museums will be able to operate one of two cameras on board the Royal Olympic cruise ship.Astronaut Ron Parise willdescribe the event and answer questions, NASA said. Other instruments on the ship will provide temperature, wind direction, light intensity, and barometric pressure.

He said the card was not a credit card as it would merely inform the doctors about one's full medical details and prevent chances of any wrong treatment being administered.
PSG College, Pentafour sign MoU
PSG College of Technology on Saturday signed an MoU with Chennai-based Pentafour Communications to provide comprehensive training on geographic information system (GIS) to students, faculty and practicing engineers. Both the institutions would jointly take up projects from various government agencies for urban planning, watershed development, laying of sewer lines and analysis of traffic networks, a press release issued by the College said in Coimbatore. GIS is a form of managementinformation system that integrates map display and finds applications in diverse areas in natural resource management and other utility areas, it said.
White House to review internet laws
The White House is to set up an inter-agency team to evaluate whether present legislation is sufficient to regulate illegal activities on the internet. The team, under the jurisdiction of attorney general Janet Reno, will scrutinise whether present laws are adequate.
