Sonia to decide on seat-sharing with RJD in Bihar

The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) on Monday authorised party president Sonia Gandhi to decide seat-adjustments with ruling RJD and other like-minded parties in the state for the coming Lok Sabha elections. The decision to authorise Gandhi was taken at the PCC election committee meeting on Monday, party vice-president Radhanand Jha told PTI. Asked about the number of seats Congress would contest in Bihar, he said "such matters will be taken care of by Soniaji."

Zee opinion poll favours major policy decisions by caretaker govt

The Zee News DRS nationwide opinion poll has shown that it was proper for a caretaker government to take major decisions before national elections. The poll, which had a sample size of 2400, showed that 44 per cent of the respondents felt that it was proper to do so while, 39 per cent felt it was not. Forty per cent of the respondents were not aware that the present Central government being a caretaker government, not accountable any more.

Karnataka BJP unit sticks to its original stand on JD entry

The BJP's Karnataka unit on Monday decided to stick to its earlier stand to have alliance only with Lok Shakti in the coming elections in the state. An emergency meeting of the party's office bearers reviewed the political situation and moves by Lok Shakti chief Ramakrishna Hegde and Samata Party leader George Fernandes To push in Janata Dal (Sharad Yadav) into NDA, BJP's state unit president B S Yediyurappa told reporters in Bangalore.

EC to hear dispute on JD symbol today

The EC will begin hearing on Tuesday the dispute between the rival H D Deve Gowda and Sharad Yadav factions for being recognised as the `real' Janata Dal and being allotted the `wheel' as the election symbol. Election Commission sources told UNI that both sides had submitted their affidavits to the Commission to substantiate their claims of being recognised as the real Janata Dal.
