New Delhi, Aug 2: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday declared that she would contest the coming Lok Sabha elections, adding that no decision had yet been taken on the constituency from where she would launch her maiden electoral battle.``Yes, I am going to contest,'' she told Star News. She hoped that it would certainly enthuse party workers, particularly in Uttar Pradesh.
Gandhi's announcement came a day before the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the party's two-day session to finalise nominations for the Lok Sabha polls and Assembly elections in some states.
A number of state and district units including party workers from Amethi, the constituency in UP represented by the Nehru-Gandhi family for several years, have appealed to Gandhi to contest from their seats.
Asked whether any decision had been taken on the constituency she will contest from, Gandhi said `not yet'.``We are all going to work very hard,'' she said on boosting the party's electoral prospects.
