CALCUTTA: The throughput of crude at the Haldia oil jetty of the Calcutta Port Trust(CPT) touched 1,33,828 tonnes during the period July 16 to 22 as against 66,000 tonnes in the previous week. According to CPT figures, crude handling at Haldia crossed the one lakh tonne-mark for the second time in four weeks. The last record of 1,43,000 tonnes was achieved during June 25 to July 1.According to sources in Indian Oil Corporation, the trend is likely to continue during the week beginning July 23. Iswari, a half-loaded Suezmax tanker carrying 60,000 tonnes of crude, is expected to arrive at the Saugor anchorage by Monday. Saugor anchorage is 50km upstream from the Sandheads.
The throughput of petroleum, oil & lubricant (POL) products increased remarkably at both the CPT dock systems. According to sources, Haldia dock handled 88,877 tonnes of superior kerosene oil(SKO), high-speed diesel and lube oil. Of this, SKO accounted for 43,877 tonnes and HSD 39,000 tonnes.
Around 6,000 tonnes of lube oil went toMumbai port from Haldia dock.On the other hand, throughput of HSD and SKO were 36,000 and 6,700 tonnes respectively at the Calcutta dock system. It handled 13,000 tonnes of SKO in the previous week. As many as 3,880 TEUs of containers were handled of which 1,815 TEUs went to different ports. In the previous week, the dock handled 3,365 TEUs of containers of which 945 TEUs sailed out to different destinations.
Haldia dock handled 12,000 tonnes of imported sugar during July 16 to 22. Around 6,000 tonnes of molasses arrived from Pakistan.
Although no arrival of imported sugar was reported at Calcutta dock, sources said that two consignments of sugar totalling 14,721 tonnes are waiting at the Sandheads and are likely to arrive in two days.
Calcutta dock handled 4,900 tonnes of rapeseed oil and 400 tonnes of soyabean oil. CPT sources said two consignments of edible oil totalling 12,500 tonnes are on their way to the dock.
Meanwhile, a single consignment of log totalling 3,309 cu meters arrived from PortBlair. Rails and general cargo of over 8,600 tonnes and 8,775 tonnes of pet coke were also handled by CDS.
Two consignments of coking coal totalling 45,000 tonnes arrived at Haldia dock after being partially offloaded at Vizag and Paradip ports. Two consignments of thermal coal sailed out to Tuticorin port. The dock also handled 11,947 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 11,000 tonnes of rock phosphate.
