Beer and burgers to cool you off

Vidya Deshpande
Burgers and beer can make an ideal combination during the summer months. Not surprising then that at least two hotels are offering this cooling combo in their coffee shops thorough July: Radisson's New York Cafe, and Park Royal's Blooms.

I tested out the B&B offer at the NYC. On a thirsty Saturday afternoon, I decided to try out this offer. But already dehydrated with the excesses of a Friday night binge, I had to politely refuse the mug of draught and stick to a more hydrating glass of lemon soda. The offer of one glass of beer and a burger at Rs 315 for the non-vegetarian and Rs 250 for the vegetarian may sound stiff, but is actually a good deal. For, you can load yourself with all the salads from the coffee shop's buffet and all the desserts, too, if you manage to finish the burger platter, that is.

The burgers have been improvised to be a meal in themselves. They are gigantic in size. (Not even a pale patch on the burgers that you get at your neighbourhood Nirula's or McDonald's.) So after tuckinginto the cold cuts of pork and crisp salads, finishing the Thai Chicken Burger was a difficult task. And mind you, this was the smallest size of burgers that NYC offers.

My three other eating companions, ordered burgers which turned out to be so huge that one of them could barely eat two bites of the Canjun Spiced Paneer Burger she ordered. The fillings of the burgers are as inventive as they can get. Like the Thai one I had ordered. It has chicken satay dipped in red curry sauce served with huge amount of curly French fries and salad dressed with peanut sauce. The burgers mostly have Mexican touch to their flavouring and make interesting eating.

It would be a good idea to skip breakfast and head for NYC for a brunch and going by the quantity of food they offer, you may very well have finished your dinner, too.
