Crompton Greaves will be split into three separate entities -- one for power and industrial systems, the other for consumer products and the third for digital systems. The board has given its in-principle approval and the entire exercise will be completed in 12-15 months.

Indian Bank net worth may be wiped out
Indian Bank is set to steal the limelight once again. The Chennai-based public sector bank, which had created history in 1995-96 by posting a net loss of Rs 1,336.40 crore -- the highest-ever by any domestic bank -- is readying to declare a massive net loss in fiscal 1999.

Correction drags Sensex down 56 pts
The stock markets witnessed a correction yesterday, with the BSE Sensex falling by 56.66 points due to end-account considerations. The net outstanding position on the BSE at the start of the trading was of the order of Rs 1,600 crore which at the end of the day came down to Rs 1,538 crore showing net speculative unwinding of positions worth Rs 62 crore.
