Pentafour Comm Q1 profit rockets 81% to Rs 4.57 cr

Chennai, July 20: Pentafour Communications Ltd (PCL) has registered 53 per cent rise in turnover to Rs 20.13 crore and a 81 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 4.57 crore for the first quarter ended June 1999.

Nearly 41 per cent of the turnover i.e., Rs 8.27 crore has come from exports. Net profit in the corresponding quarter last year was Rs 2.52 crore.

Gross profit shot up by 110 per cent to Rs 6.73 crore from Rs 3.20 crore last year. Total expenditure and interest and financial charges were Rs 13.46 crore (Rs 9.41 crore) and nil against Rs 61 lakhs. Depreciation was Rs 1.56 crore against Rs 38 lakhs. Gross block rose to Rs 6.35 crore (Rs 3.18 crore).

Of the total turnover education and training division contributed Rs 7.44 crore (37 per cent). The company initiated 21 IBM authorised e-business solutions centers in the first quarter. It has established centre of excellence in PSG Tech-Coimbatore and Anna University-Chennai to provide also technology-based internet training besides the usual classroominstructions.
