Supreme spurts on volume-led-growthIt's been a volume-led growth for Supreme Petrochem Limited. Thanks to the hike in capacities, sales volume in the first-quarter of fiscal 1999-2000 has risen by 22 per cent to 24270 tonnes. The increased volumes more than offset the fall in prices of polystyrene and, consequently, the company saw its operating profit rise by over 40 per cent to Rs 14.27 crore for the first-three months of 1999-2000.
Rowe picks up stake in ICICI
A new FII, Rowe Price-Flemming International Incorporated, has edged out IDBI as the tenth largest shareholder of ICICI Ltd. Between May and June, the FII acquired 78 lakh shares of ICICI. During the same period, two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto acquired 80 lakh shares of the term-lending institution. Hectic buying by these two entities would partly explain the incredible rise in the ICICI scrip price for the period under consideration.
Exide marches ahead
Thanks to big orders from the US and European markets coupled witha revival in the automobile sector, Exide Industries is having a dream on the bourses. In the last seven trading sessions, the scrip moved up from Rs 195.5 to Rs 245.6. This rise in the scrip price has been accompanied by huge volumes.
