Mumbai, July 18: Canara Bank would on Monday move an application before the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) for attachments of two flats owned by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd (ABCL) to recover Rs 10 crore advanced to the firm floated by Bachchan.The flats, admeasuring about 1700 square feet, are located in suburban Juhu and valued at more than Rs 1 crore, counsel for Canara Bank, Nishit Dhruve, said here. The bank would seek BIFR's permission to proceed with the court receiver for attachment of these flats, he said.
The BIFR had, on July 9, declared ABCL as a sick company but directed Canara Bank to seek its permission within ten days in case if the bank desired to proceed with attachment of properties belonging to ABCL. The deadline expires on Monday. As regards the palatial bungalow of Bachchan, valued at Rs 10 crore, Dhruve said the bank would either move the Mumbai high court or the newly set up tribunal for recovery of debts in Mumbai.
