Bhel to set up Rs 45 cr sub-station in KarnatakaBharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has bagged an order worth Rs 45 crore for setting up an electric sub-station on a turnkey basis in Karnataka. The order placed by the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) envisages complete design, manufacture, supply of equipment and commissioning of sub-station at Talaguppa, near Shimoga in Karnataka, a Bhel release said.
The sub-station will be commissioned within 18 months. Recently Bhel had signed a contract with electricity departments of Daman and Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for setting up entire transmission system on turnkey basis for augmenting the existing power transmission networks in the Union Territories, the release said.
Tourism ministry opens regional office in Guwahati
Union minister of state for tourism Omak Apang on Sunday inaugurated the regional office of the ministry in Guwahati as a culmination of a series of programmes to project the zone as a major tourist attraction. Accordingto Apang, another institute of hotel management has been approved for Shillong and for both Guwahati and Shillong centres Rs 24 crore has been earmarked.
Further, a chapter of the prestigious institute of travel and tourism management has also been set up at Guwahati. This would provide trained manpower to the travel industry in north- east. Also in with a view to promoting the region worldwide, space in international tourism trade fairs at London and Berlin was made available to north eastern state free of cost.
Inauguration of rly line postponed
The inauguration of the works relating to the laying of a new railway line between Gulbarga and Bidar, scheduled to be held in Gulbarga on Monday, was cancelled after the announcement of the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections. Railway sources told UNI that Union minister of state for railway Rama Naik was to inaugurate the works.
