No involvement in Singapore firm offer to buy rubber, says B

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, July 11: Rubber Board last week clarified that it is not directly involved in any negotiations on an offer from a Singapore firm to buy 50,000 tonnes rubber from India.

"The board is in no way directly involved in negotiations on export but is only providing assistance besides passing on export query, which has been received through commerce ministry from Singapore to Kerala government and some of the other agencies," rubber production commissioner A K Krishna Kumar today said, responding to a PTI report that Rubber Board was likely to hold talks with the Singapore firm.

"While the matter is still under consideration of Kerala government, it is for the agencies to undertake export after settling terms," he said.

Rubber Board would not be directly involved in exporting but its role was that of only providing assistance, he said.

"Rubber Board is committed to promotion of natural rubber export but its role will be limited to technical assistance and guidance," Krishna Kumar added.
