Calcutta, July 11: The throughput of POL products at Haldia oil jetty crossed one lakh tonnes for the week to July 8, 1999, which is a record in the first three months of the current fiscal.According to sources in Calcutta Port Trust (CPT), the Haldia oil jetty handled 1,11,000 tonnes of POL (products) like superior kerosene oil, high speed diesel, motor spirit, furnace oil and aviation turbine fuel during the week.
Of these, SKO accounted for 43,000 tonnes and HSD 40,000 tonnes. At the same time, 20,000 tonnes of furnace oil sailed out to Paradip port from Haldia.The throughput of POL (products) has declined at Haldia jetty during the last two weeks. The handling of these items at Calcutta dock also dipped to 31,500 tonnes compared with 52,200 tonnes in the previous week.
Meanwhile, the Calcutta dock system handled 2,975 TEUs of containers this week, of which 1,675 TEUs were exported to various ports. Last week, 2,875 TEUs were handled of which 1,150 TEUs went to Singapore and Colombo.
Four edibleoil tankers discharged 18,099 tonnes of RBD palmolein and soyabean oil at the Budge Budge jetty of CDS compared with a record handling of 24,896 tonnes in the previous week.
The throughput of crude at Haldia jetty dipped to 40,000 tonnes compared with last week's 1,43,000 tonnes.
Three consignments of coking coal totalling around 65,000 tonnes arrived at Haldia dock after being partially unloaded at Vizag and Paradip ports. A single consignment of thermal coal went to Tuticorin port from Haldia and another is being readied for sailing out on Saturday to the same destination.
No sugar was imported through the Calcutta and Haldia docks this week after a month of continuous handling. However, CPT sources pointed out that three consignments of sugar totalling around 25,000 tonnes are expected to arrive at both the docks next week.
Among other commodities, Calcutta and Haldia docks handled 3,500 and 23,650 tonnes of palm fatty acid and met coke respectively.
