HLL to unwrap Unilever's ice creams

New Delhi, July 9: Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) is launching 15 of the world's most popular ice creams and desserts from the Unilever portfolio including the largest selling ice cream Magnum in select Indian cities.

All the 15 new brands would be made available in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Calcutta besides New Delhi, a company release said here.

``The launch of these products follows the stupendous success of `Feast Club', the first such imported ice cream, available in Delhi and Mumbai since April 1999,'' HLL general marketing manager Vivek Rampal said.

The new brands, including Magnum, from Unilever stable would be made available at only select Kwality Wall's international outlets, the release added.

Three variants of Magnum would be introduced in the country initially along with the `Magnum Classic', a luxury vanilla ice cream priced at Rs 35.

Other two variants of Magnum slated to hit indian markets are Magnum White, and Magnum Almond.

HLL, the Rs 9,482-crore fast movingconsumer goods major, would also be introducing other popular brands like Viennetta - in three variants of chocolate, vanilla and chestnut, super cornetto and nogger sandwich among others.

Viennetta, a popular after-dinner dessert in Europe with multiple layers of delicious vanilla flavoured dessert and crispy layers of chocolate flavour toppings, would be priced at Rs 110, a take-home family packet, the release said.

While Nogger Sandwich, a super sized cone in the pistachio flavour, would be available at Rs 36, Feast Club would be priced at Rs 25, the company said.

In the take-home range, HLL will introduce an assortment of new flavours such as punch banana, pecan nut along with vanilla and chocolate flavours in one litre servings.

Monaco, a creamy premium ice cream in a tub format, would be made available in three different flavours - bourbon vanilla, double choc and pecan - in a price range of Rs 225 to Rs 255.

Depending upon the consumer feedback, the company intends to import more varietieslater in the year, the release said.

Kwality Wall's in India is likely to futher leverage upon the unique advantage of having associate companies in Unilever which are the market leaders in ice creams in almost 50 countries including, the US, England and Germany.

The new range of ice creams is slated to be launched on Sunday here.
