NTPC not to take over NJPC projectIn defiance of power ministry's directive, NTPC has declined to take over Rs 6,000 crore Naptha Jakhri Hydro Power project in Himachal Pradesh on grounds of manpower problems. The power ministry had asked NTPC to take over the 1500mw hydro power project due to the resource constraints being faced by the Naptha Jakhri Hydro Power Corporation (NJPC) in funding this mega power project, a top official in the power ministry said. Though NTPC has conveyed its unwillingness to take over the project being executed by NJPC, which is facing acute resource crunch, the power ministry is still persuading the cash-rich navratna corporation to change its mind.
