`VSNL not to copy MTNL'

VSNL is planning to come out with an innovative price package in response to rival MTNL's decision to cut tariffs by 15 per cent. Speaking to The Financial Express, VSNL acting CMD Amitabh Kumar said that they would not "copy MTNL", but would instead try and work out the best deal for customers taking the economics of the price cut into account. "The board will take a view on this in due course. We have already made it clear that it will be our endeavour to bring down charges. In the meantime, we would also be introducing our revamped internet service in another 20 days," said Kumar. VSNL has a subscriber base of 2,60,000, much more than MTNL's 20,000.

Zee Network, Canal Plus tie-up for DTO service

Zee Network and Canal Plus Technologies, leading international supplier of digital broadcasting software solutions, have announced a tie-up to provide direct-to-operator (DTO) service in India. Canal Plus, Europe's largest pay TV group, will provide its conditionalaccess system `Media Guard' and interactive middleware `Media Highway' to Zee Network.

Tata Cellular introduces FMS

Tata Cellular in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday announced deployment of a multi-hi-tech fraud management system (FMS) in its network. The system `Teleprobe' by Wipro would enable the company to quickly detect possible fraud besides enhancing customer service quality.

Escotel expansion

Escotel , the cellular operator for Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala, on Wednesday announced the launch of its services in nine more towns in its circles. The launch of these nine towns has come ahead of schedule.
