Mumbai, July 5: Gold and silver prices lost some of the recent gains on the bullion market here today. Silver .999 dropped by Rs 70 at Rs 8,130 per kg. Silver .916 was down by Rs 55 at Rs 7,980 per kg in sympathy. Demand resistance by industrial consumers capped rally while losses in the global market, renewed overseas arrivals and setback in dollar value against rupee prompted profit-taking. Delhi was weak and in the overseas market the white metal slid from $5.33 to $5.27 per ounce.Standard gold remained unchanged at Rs 4,150 per 10 gm. so was gold .22 carat at Rs 3,840 per 10 gm. However prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) reacted by Rs 100 at Rs 48,600 per peice following weak trend in the global market. Demand was dull and volume of trading was at a low ebb. In the international market the yellow metal closed lower at $262.95 as against $263.80 per ounce previously.
G'nut oil maintains
Groundnut oil finished steady at reduced level on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and itsoil ruled firm in the ready delivery. But the forward market suffered losses.
Groundnut oil remained unchanged at Rs 363 per 10 kg amidst slow buying interest, but fresh inflow were restricted. In Rajkot prices ruled quiet at Rs 580/585 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil moved up by Rs 2 to Rs 224 per 10 kg as recovery in the global prices arrested fresh offerings by Indian importers.
Market talks that government may soon hike import duty on edible oil also pushed palm oil prices upward in the local market. In the global market palm oil edged up by $2.50 at $387.50 per tonne for nearby delivery and at $382.50/385 for long delivery.
Castor oil finished Rs 3 higher at Rs 386/398 per 10 kg on fresh overseas enquiries. Castorseed ready placed Rs 15 higher at Rs 1774/1780 per quintal in sympathy.
In the futures section, September delivery reacted from Rs 1,777 to Rs 1,767 before closing at Rs 1,772 per quintal on light bull liquidation. In Ahmedabad September delivery finished lower by Rs 8 at Rs 1,769 perquintal.In the international castor oil future market here, August and October delivery slid by Rs 2 at Rs 399 and Rs 405 per 10 kg respectively.
Castorseed arrivals picked up to 24000/25000 bags in Gujarat, it was learnt.
Sugar ends lower
An easy trend continued on the sugar market in the wake of restricted demand.The price shed Rs 3 to 5 a quintal. M-30 were placed at Rs 1435-1495 and S-30 at Rs 1415-1442 ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, M-30 were on offer at Rs 1415-1425 and S-30 at Rs 1395-1405.
In tenders, also price slid by Rs 5 as M-30 were indicated at Rs 1360-1370 and S-30 at Rs 1350-1355 in Kolhapur line.
White Thai sugar price at Rs 1295 ex-Kandla exclusive of sales tax ruled static.
Cotton unchanged
A steady condition prevailed on the cotton market. Activity was modest.V-797 were placed at Rs 13,000-13,300, Wagad at Rs 13,500 and kalan-ginned at Rs 11,800-11,900 a candy spot. Sanker average were on offer at Rs 15,500-17,500, medium at Rs 18,000-19,000 and superior at Rs19,500-21,000.
Yarn listless
A listless condition continued on the yarn market following poor demand.With grey fabrics continuing to languish for want of worthwhile buying support even at below cost price and operations in Bhiwandi powerlooms continuing to be at a low level of around 40 per cent the demand for polyester yarn remained extremely sluggish.
The price, as a result, ruled static a low level. Grey first quality of medium-sized units 80dn roto ruled at Rs 87-88, micro roto at Rs 92-95, weft at Rs 83-84 and warp at Rs 93-94 a kg. 80/1000dn were mentioned at Rs 120-122 and 80/1400dn at Rs 125-130.
150dn weft and warp were placed at Rs 74 and at Rs 84 respectively. 150dn single roto ruled at Rs 75-76 and double roto at Rs 76-77.
Grains dull
A dull condition continued on the grains market as activity remained sluggish.
Wheat milling deshi at Rs 725-731 and imported ex-dock at Rs 655-660 a quintal were maintained on restricted supply. Wheat north Gujarat Sonaklyan were placedat Rs 755-765 and 496 at Rs 775-800. MP 147 were traded at Rs 775-875 while Sarbati were quoted in the range of Rs 900-1400.
Rice Perimal average were on offer at Rs 900-1100 while superior ruled at Rs 1200-1500.
Among pulses, green peas Rumba/Heart were placed at Rs 1250 and Canadian at Rs 800-940. Australian gram were on offer at Rs 1200. Kabuli gram A-2 at Rs 3200-3300, B-2 at Rs 2800, C-2 at Rs 1800-2000 and natural at Rs 2200-2300 were static.
