New Delhi, July 5: Oracle Software India has decided to make a big foray into the government sector for boosting sales of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package. The Indian subsidiary of Oracle Corporation has been targeting the private sector units for some time, but the public sector still remains a bigger segment for it to cater. But with the PSU restructuring round the corner, Oracle aims to be able to offer its expertise to them as its ERP is particularly suited for restructuring large corporations.
``Restructuring of PSUs entails intelligent information technology solutions without which reengineering of business processes and application of best practices across the enterprise would not complete a smooth execution,'' Oracle Software India director applications business Vivek Marla told The Financial Express.
Oracle has decided to go all out to target the ERP contracts, particularly in the banking, financial services and petroleum sectors, according to Marla.
OracleApplications, he said, not only provides the optimum starting point for deployment of IT components and best practices, but also the three Ws of IT. These are the universal web-based access to business processes, workflow and warehousing.
Marla, who made a presentation at Ficci seminar on `Restructuring of PSUs', later said ``the key to successful restructuring involves meticulous and focused preparation. A clear understanding of the startegic intent of the enterprise in question, will determine the various goals a PSU enterprise would need to achieve and impact any restructuring efforts. These goals typically are financial goals, customer related goals, internal processes and resources capabilities.''
Through Oracle Applications, PSU restructuring can become easier to manage due to reduction in cost, productivity gains, efficient operations and better customer service, he claimed.
