Hyderabad, July 5: The Rs 300-crore GTN group, engaged in yarn, textile and cotton trading for nearly four decades, will enter domestic retail trade.

For the purpose, the company has promoted an outfit Perfect Knitters Ltd with an investment of Rs 3 crore, general manager V Krishnan said. The company has drafted a 10-year plan with a proposed spending of 10 per cent of revenue every year.

GTN is in the process of identifying a brand name, for which it has engaged a leading domestic textiles consultant. The garments will be made from high-quality cotton for both men and women, Krishnan said.

Perfect Knitters, which has started manufacturing garments, has been exporting to Italy and other countries. "There will be no two different products. We sell the product which we are exporting," Krishnan said.

According to him, top domestic apparel companies have evinced interest to buy products from the company. It is proposed to price the product Rs 1,000 onwards. It is estimated that the retail business will beone-third of the turnover in 10 years, Krishnan said. The company also intends to open its own outlets at a later stage.

GTN, which is exporting more than 95 per cent of the products it manufactures, is chalking out plans to meet the domestic industry's demands also. "We are thinking of economising to meet the domestic industry's demand," Krishnan added. GTN has bagged the Texprocil awards for 14 years continuously since 1984.
