Kumaramangalam serves ultimatum to IPPsPower minister P R Kumaramangalam has warned the private power producers that their techno-economic clearances (TEC) would be cancelled if they failed to submit financial packages within the given deadline. The deadline would not be extended under any circumstances and these projects could be placed on the bidding route in case of delay, an official release quoting the minister said on Thursday. "IPPS should make all-out effort to tie up their finances and achieve financial closure within the due time," Kumaramangalam said at a recent review meeting on the status of private power projects. Power ministry sources said in case these IPPs failed to submit a financial package in a specified time the fuel linkages allotted to them would also be diverted to other power projects.
RPG Transmission, Bangla power co sign agreement for ADB project
Power equipment supplier RPG Transmission Ltd on Thursday forged an alliance with Bangladesh's Power Grid Company(BPGC) to supply transmission line towers and construct a 230 kv transmission line here.The agreement to this effect was signed by officials of BPCG and RPG Transmission.
The estimated cost of the Meghnaghat power station associated transmission line project is 373.3 million taka, official sources said. The project, financed by Asian Development bank (ADB), would transmit 450 mw to be generated by Meghanaghat power station to Dhaka and other areas, they said.
US power company AES had signed an initial agreement on March 26 with state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for setting up the power station in Narsinghdi district.
PM to lay foundation stone of Parvati hydel project
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will lay the foundation stone of 2051 mw Parvati hydro-electric project in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh in July. State chief minsiter Prem Kumar Dhumal who met Vapayee on Thursday said that the specific date for laying the foundation stone of the Rs 12,000 crore projectwould be fixed shortly. Initially, the Prime Minister was to lay foundation stone on June 6. The three-stage project on river Parvati once completed would generate 8500 milion units annually.
The project was being built jointly by the Centre and Himachal Pradesh with the state and in the first phase 800 mw electricity would be generated from a power house at Sainj by diverting river Parvati's water from a 90 meter high dam at Pulga through a 31 km long tunnel.
