Hughes Software Systems has launched Campus@NET, a placement preparation programme for engineering graduates on its website. The programme is a web-based information site that disseminates useful information, career tips and tests for engineering students preparing for placement this year.

Students will have to register online at www.hssworld.com to participate in the programme. It will run on the site for two months beginning July 1 and will have one additional section every week for students to prepare themselves for aptitude tests, offer interview and career tips and also disseminate information on career opportunities in emerging technology domains like internet telephony, next generation network management, embedded softwares, satellite and mobile communication systems.

Novell

Novell's authorised education centre partners, as part of the Certified Novell Engineer programme, will offer Oracle Education's Oracle Database Operator (DBO) course trainingfor the NetWare operating system. This will make NetWare training on the Oracle database available to Novell professionals, enabling them to enhance their IT skills as Oracle database operators under the Oracle Certified Professional programme.

ZENworks 2

Novell has announced the availability of ZENworks 2, an enhanced version of the industry's first directory-based management solution for Microsoft Windows' desktops. ZENworks, based on Novell directory services, eases network use for end-users and simplifies network management for technical professionals by basing network management on customised digital profiles of individual users.

SDK from Motorola

Motorola has launched a Software Developers' Kit (SDK), version 1.2, for its PageWriter 2000 two-way pager, PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communications centre and its Integrators' Kit for the CreataLink 2 XT two-way data transceiver. These latest kits help tp and develop new, cutting-edge software applications for these two-waydevices.

Cisco acquires Stratum One

Networking major Cisco Systemse has announced acquisition of Santa Clara, California-based StratumOne Communications. Privately-held StratumOne is a leading developer of highly integrated, high-performance semiconductor technology. This acquisition will advance Cisco's new world strategy and provide the silicon technology necessary to enable service providers to build next-generation high-speed data networks with superior price and performance characteristics.

Dell Computer

Dell Computer Corporation has announced a new browser-based management software designed to help businesses better manage Dell systems and track total ownership cost. Dell OpenManage IT Assistant is tailored to manage systems at the workgroup or departmental levels, offers network administrators the ability to monitor and handle asset, configuration and remote management for Dell systems on a network. It can be deployed and used throughout a business or institutional setting.
