Calcutta, July 1:ETC, the event management agency for ITC, has roped in New York-based disc jockey Drei to do a tour of India as a part the Benson & Hedges' Sound & Feel campaign in July '99. ETC director Martin Da Costa said in an interview in Calcutta on Wednesday ``Drei was coming to India on a personal visit to the Osho Ashram. We have engaged him for a tour of the country as a part of the B&H campaign.''Da Costa added: ``Drei is associated with one of the most popular radio programmes from New York. He is a wonderful artist and a big name in New York.'' Drei will be starting his tour from Bangalore and will also travel to Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Calcutta. Speaking about the Benson & Hedges association with music, Da Costa said: ``In India, it is difficult to get away from music. It is one of the biggest passions of the country's young people apart from cricket."
Da Costa was in Calcutta for B&H's show with deejay Whosane? at the Incognito, Taj Bengal.He said: ``We are targeting the B&H campaign atthe people in the age group of 24-35. People who are looking at an international experience in their lives.''
To continue on the international exposure, ETC plans to bring in more foreign deejays and music groups to India under the Sound & Feel banner. ``We want to expose a wide range of people to a wide range of music,'' Da Costa added. ETC (Events, Talent, Communication) was set up in early 1998 by Da Costa and Mahesh Mathai. While the company started off managing careers of leading artists it has slowly moved on to event management.
ETC now works with clients like ITC, Coca Cola, MTV, Exide, and Hindustan Lever. Da Costa added that soon ETC will be involved in a campaign for promoting HLL deodorants that are likely to be launched soon.
``We are really proud about the fact that we brought in accountability andprofessionalism into event management in India,'' Da Costa said. ``We act in tandem with the agencies, the company's own people, the designers and press relations agencies, as well asprospective sponsors to make the event a success,'' he said. The company is also managing the careers of singers Shaan and Sagarika.
