New Delhi, July 1: Daewoo Motors India has registered a 20 per cent growth in sales of its small car Matiz in May. The orders received against full payment numbered 3604 cars, a company release stated. Of this Daewoo despatched 2,584 cars, of these 2231 were Matiz and 353 were Cielo Executive and Nexia.On the sales figure for June, managing director SG Awasthi said that the company is greatly encouraged by the demand for Matiz and has been able to sustain it. He said that the sales trends show that the overall market for Daewoo cars is growing.
Awasthi further said that in view of the increased demand and in order to reduce the delivery period, Daewoo Motors India has embarked on a high volume production plan. The company is currently producing 100 cars a day which will be increased to 160 cars per day in July, which will considerably reduce the long wait period, he said.
