GAIL to lay pipeline for Petronet LNGNew Delhi: Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) would lay a Rs 1500 crore pipeline for transporting LNG from the Dahej terminal of Petronet LNG. The 550 km Gandhar-Bijapur pipeline, to be executed by GAIL, would have the capacity to carry about 20 million cubic meters gas per day (mmcmpd) and is likely to be completed by early 2003. GAIL, which has a 12.5 per cent stake in Petronet LNG, has already got the right of way to lay the pipeline in Gujarat and is presently conducting the survey for working out the design and other details for setting up the pipeline.
UP Road Transport Corp gets Rs 95 cr credit
Lucknow: Encouraged by its best profit figures in 29 years, various financial bodies have agreed to loan Rs 95 crore to the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) for the purchase of new buses. UPSRTC chairman-cum-managing director Desh Deepak Varma told UNI on Monday that in fiscal 1998-99, the corporation made a profit of Rs 32 crore,the highest among all the road transport corporations of the country.
CCEA clears financial recast of Singareni Collieries
New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Monday cleared financial restructuring of Singareni Collieries Company (SSCL) by allowing a moratorium till 2007 on payment of its Rs 663.34 crore outstanding interest to the government. The company has been given the moratorium on payment of the outstanding accrued during the Eighth Plan period upto March 31, 2007.
BHEL sets up long modules unit
Tiruchirapalli: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has set up a Rs 34.57 crore exclusive facility here, first of its kind in the world, for manufacturing long modules. This unique facility could handle modules up to a maximum length of 26 metres, used in building heat recovery steam generators. Bhel unit here was supplying two dual pressure HRSGS to NTPC for the 430 mw combined cycle power plant at Faridabad.
This order was obtained against stiff globalcompetition. Employees of NTPC have decided to contribute a day's salary this month to the Army Central Welfare Fund. The corporation has a staff strength of 24,000. The amount is estimated to be approximately Rs 66 lakh. The contribution is a gesture towards rehabilitating the next of kin of martyred soldiers in the ongoing conflict in Kashmir.
